A Calgary man is facing serious charges after border officials allege he attempted to smuggle $7 million worth of cocaine across the international border.

On September 25th, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at the Coutts crossing discovered nearly 77 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a vehicle attempting to enter Canada. The seizure represents one of the largest drug busts at this particular border crossing in recent years.

The accused, whose identity has not been publicly released pending court proceedings, was arrested immediately following the discovery. If convicted, he could face significant prison time under Canadian drug trafficking laws.

CBSA officials emphasized the ongoing collaboration between border agencies and law enforcement in combating international drug smuggling operations. The Coutts crossing, located on Alberta's southern border with Montana, remains a critical point of entry where enhanced surveillance technologies help detect illegal substances.
