Essex Lorry Driver Jailed for Killing Grandmother While High on Drugs and Alcohol
An Essex lorry driver who was high on drugs and alcohol has been jailed after causing a fatal collision that killed an 81-year-old grandmother.
Daniel Barry Coburn, 49, was behind the wheel of a white Ford Transit drop side lorry when it veered onto the wrong side of the road on August 5, 2023.
The vehicle collided with a red Kia Picanto being driven by Bethan Fraser-Andrews, 81, who sadly died at the scene on the A12.
The court heard that Coburn was under the influence of both drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash and was also using his mobile phone.
He has since been sentenced to prison for his actions, bringing a tragic end to a life senselessly lost.
