Jack Neo’s Daughter Launches Luxury Loungewear Brand in Sydney

Growing up as "Jack Neo's daughter" wasn't exactly a title Ethel Neo, 33, cherished. The Singaporean entrepreneur preferred people see the real her – not just the daughter of Singapore's famous filmmaker. "I wanted people to see the real me," she shared in a recent interview, reflecting on how she avoided discussing her family background for years.

Now living in Sydney, Ethel is stepping out of her father's shadow in a big way. Following successful ventures in collagen soup and jewellery, she's launching a luxury loungewear brand that blends comfort with elegance. "Comfort is the new luxury," explains Ethel, whose designs focus on sustainable fabrics and timeless silhouettes.

The brand marks a significant milestone in her entrepreneurial journey. "Each business has been about creating something beautiful that solves a problem," she notes. "With loungewear, it's about reclaiming comfort without sacrificing style – especially important in today's work-from-anywhere world."

Industry observers see this as more than just a fashion launch. "It represents a growing trend of second-generation founders carving their own niche," says fashion analyst Mei Lin. "Ethel brings a unique perspective as someone who understands both Asian luxury aesthetics and Western comfort preferences."

For Ethel, this is about more than entrepreneurship. "It's about proving that family connections can be springboards, not ceilings. I'm proud of my heritage, but this brand is 100% my vision and my effort."

The collection, featuring pieces made from organic bamboo blends and recycled materials, will debut online next month. With plans to expand across Asia-Pacific, Ethel Neo is building her own legacy – one comfortable garment at a time.
