Marcus Rashford does not want to end career disappointed, says Thomas Tuchel
England manager Thomas Tuchel has said there are "no limits" to Marcus Rashford's potential, but warned the Barcelona forward not to end his career thinking "what could have been".
The 26-year-old England international is currently on a season-long loan at Barcelona from Manchester United, with Tuchel revealing he had a heart-to-heart conversation with the forward about his career trajectory.
"I told him clearly: there are no limits to what he can achieve," Tuchel said in an exclusive interview. "But I also shared something important with him - he should finish his career without looking back thinking 'what if?'. That would be the worst feeling for any player."
Rashford's move to Camp Nou last summer came after a challenging period at Old Trafford, where injuries and inconsistent form saw him fall out of favor under previous managers. The versatile forward has shown flashes of his best form in Spain, scoring crucial goals in Champions League matches.
"Marcus is at a fantastic club where he can reignite his career," Tuchel added. "The environment, the quality around him - it's the perfect place for him to rediscover his best self. I believe in him completely."
The Germany-born manager, who worked with Rashford during his time at Manchester United, emphasized that talent alone isn't enough to reach football's summit.
"Potential is just the starting point," he explained. "What separates the good from the great is consistency, mentality, and the hunger to improve every single day. Marcus has all the tools - now it's about using them relentlessly."
Barcelona coach Xavi has publicly backed Rashford, praising his "unbelievable" work ethic and tactical intelligence. The forward has adapted quickly to La Liga's demanding style, registering five goals and three assists in all competitions so far this season.
For Rashford, Tuchel's words carry particular weight. The manager was instrumental in his development during their time together at United, and his honest assessment comes at a pivotal moment in the forward's career.
"This is more than just football now," Tuchel concluded. "It's about legacy. Marcus has the chance to write a beautiful story - but only he can turn the page."
